Cogworks garden

Lun and Mar taking a breather after running from military prison. Fun times! The city substructure contains the ancient cogworks that keep it airborne. There are old ruins from the first days, and also little shantytowns where the poorest live. Everything has been heavily damaged from bombing months ago.

I wanted to see myself make paintings quicker, as well as get more comfortable with incorporating a ton of photos in one illustration.

Character exploration, trying out different things. I have resolved to do these three+ times as often, to make up for lost time. Behind every photo is a thousand more photos that got cut; or, a picture is worth a thousand more pictures thrown away in draft stage.
Mar's a good character for experimentation; he has a wider range of emotion and movement than his brother Lun. Also, i like messing with him.

Vi Butterflies

5 feet 10 inches, angel (Watcher), older than the first human

Vinicio takes the form of single or multiple butterflies, so he(/she/it?) can keep an eye on people. He's the butterfly in "little voice". As Eras's best friend, Vi has to put up with a lot of crap, but he rarely gets angry. Vi carries on being a Watcher even after Eras abandoned him, and still calls him brother.

Abilities: shapeshifting, healing, telepathy, clairvoyance, abnormal strength and speed
Weaknesses: Poor Vi is a big pushover. He's also a stickler for the rules, and refuses to act out of his jurisdiction, which can hamper things.

He likes to collect old books. Nerd. He keeps a bookshop stocked with rare books from his travels.

Maurino and his noble steed. These Riders carry their spears like flags. Mar left the skycity to learn from the nomadic peoples and Serpents of the desert. He calls both places home.

Mar became lieutenant of the desert nomad's militia and proceeded to kick much ass. His spear is reinforced with metal. Snakeskin taken from moultings of young giant serpents serves as light armor.
He and the other warriors spend most of their time astride their giant serpents, wielding spears.

Lun was trained in the art of mind control; he can take hundreds of mens' sanity, leaving them screaming and foaming at the mouth. Fun times. Conversely, he can manipulate another's spiritual energy to help heal their bodies. He carries a short sword for close combat.

half demon, born and lives in the City

Lun shuns all but those closest to him, but makes up for that in his strong love for his little brother and late mother. He is often the serene counterbalance to Mar, though he himself is always in turmoil. He wants most to see his brother happy. He fears demons, and has a justified phobia of people dying in the bath.

Soft voice cuts people to ribbons.
Unhurried movements, though hands shake when nervous.
Likes pears, because they are fresh and clean.
Tears heads off flowers when morose.

Mar is often rude to anyone who annoys him, but he is also intensely loyal to people he cares about. He doesn't hesitate to violently threaten anyone who upsets his loved ones. His brother is his only family, and he wants to protect him most of all. Sometimes acts like the black sheep, to mask his fear of being unwanted.

Dangerous, quick, fluid movements.
Has almost kicked the habit of touching his hair when spiked.
Likes pomegranates, for their tartness.
Surprisingly great with kids.
